One of our cats, that often prefers to be outdoors at all times of the year, is using this on our covered deck when the weather is colder. The merchant (Revival Animal Health) delivered in a very timely fashion. Although not clear in the product description, it did include a fleece cover for the pad.

We used a snuggie and blankets during the fall, but the plastic got cold by early morning, when the outside temperature was at its lowest. We needed an upgrade for the cold season. The kitty was initially shy and slept somewhere else the first night, because the texture of the cover was new to him (and maybe the pad squeaked a little). I placed him several times on the pad the next day, and he got the hang of it, and now he sleeps in his house all the time. He is warm all over when he gets out of the house, although it gets very cold around here (even -4F).

My cat is around 10 years old and only weighs 9 pounds. So, he is always in search of warm places. I think he has heat vision cause he can find warmth anywhere. I felt bad that he kept laying on top of the stereo to stay warm, so I got him this heated kitty pad. I got the outdoor version because he likes to chew on power cords. But, I use it in indoors.

He sleeps on it for hours a day and seems to love it. The pad is a harder plastic material and I was expecting it to feel more like a padded seat. But, I put a soft t-shirt onit and it doesn’t seem to bother him.

Also, if you have the space, get the largest size of the several sizes they have available. I think the one I chose was too small for even a small cat. He can’t really stetch out as much as I think he’d like to.

Also, 102 degrees sounds really hot to me, but it is actually a comfortable temperature.

Overall- my cat loves it and I’m glad I got it. Just get the biggest size they have available and plan on using a thin padding or getting Revival’s padding so that it is softer but also transfers heat.

This heated kitty pad makes a great addition to a winter shelter for outdoor cats. I believe in keeping cats indoors, but if you love cats, you may find yourself dealing with someone else’s outdoor cat, or maybe even ferals. I looked at a similar product at PetsMart but it was marked for indoor use only.

The heating element of this kitty “pad” is inside an air-tight black casing that feels like thick plastic. The cord is 5 1/2 feet long, insulated and covered with a steel coil so that you don’t have to worry about a critter chewing through it. The pad is big enough for one cat and luckily, it fit perfectly inside of the small igloo I set up on my back deck. The instructions say do not immerse in water, so the pad shouldn’t be used in an open area, though I think it would do ok on a covered deck that stayed dry most of the time…and it makes sense to try to provide shelter against the elements for the cat’s sake, anyway, so if you’re providing a good, dry shelter for the cat, then the pad should be ok, too.

I placed my igloo under a patio table, which I then covered with a waterproof tarp (using patio chairs covered in shower curtain liners as entryways), so the pad isn’t exposed to any moisture at all. The kitty has used the igloo and the heating pad many days this winter – well worth the investment.

By the way, if you order directly through the manufacturer’s catalog, they make the heating pads in semi-circles specially sized to fit igloos…but this small cat pad fit in my igloo just fine.

this item requires you to purchase double back velcro tape and tape the kitty bed to your windowsill! Not only will you damage your windowsills by putting TAPE on them, but if you have a heavy cat, the other side of the velcro tape is sure to come off and send your kitty to the floor when he tries to jump onto the bed. Do not buy this product as it is cheaply put together. While the faux wool bedding is nice and comfy, the handles on the bottom do not set well against the wall and there is no easy place to put velcro tape on the bottom of the bed.

We bought ours and once we saw how it is to be installed, it went into our “donation” pile. Try to find a kitty bed that has hooks (not velcro) which will hold the top of the bed to the windowsill frame.

The only thing wrong with this product is the velcro is not strong enough to hold the unit on the window sill for more than a day or 2. My cats are the normal 12 to 14 pound variety and they like the padded and heated rest by the window. But I have to figure out a way to beef up the velcro in order to hold on to the sill.

I just got this today, and we’re returning it. We bought one about 10 years ago, for about , which we still have, and the cats love it, so we were going to get another for a different room. One of the reasons we still have it is because it’s so well made. It’s a solid piece of wood with foam and faux fur covering. We’ve since replaced the faux fur, but that’s only because of 10 years of sun wear.

This, however, is not wood, but plastic, and not a solid platform of plastic at that. It’s that kind of plastic that is sort of like a grate, then it has some foam with egg carton dimples, and the faux fur covering. It looks very cheap, compared to what I have.

For one thing, if you want to put it on with the velcro, it’s odd because there’s only one small strip on the bottom of it where you can put the velcro, and that space is so close to the edge that you wouldn’t be able to fully put the elastic faux fur on it as it’s suppose to fit properly. With the wood (or a solid surface) you can adjust where the velcro should go according to your window, and according to how the fur fits. There is an option to screw it in, but that’s not an option for us.

It looks nice in the picture, but it’s so much cheaper than I expected for what I paid. As crazy as my younger cat gets jumping up and down on it, I wouldn’t trust this for that. I think we may just buy the materials and build one ourselves. Disappointed though, I was looking forward to giving this to my kitties tonight.

I just returned this window perch today. I had the same experience as the other person that reviewed it. The pad for the cats to sit on is very nice but I couldn’t get the legs to stay on it. They would fall off with the slightest pressure on the pad!

I bought this for my schnauzers to share in their igloo. It stays plenty warm to the touch but not hot. I would recommend this to anybody. I was not blown away by it, because it is just a hard plactic heater that that stays warm. However, that is the very reason I purchased it in the first place, I just needed something for the dogs to stay just warm enough on. Nothing special, but it is living up to what it is supposed to do.

We bought this heater for a dogloo that we are housing two stray cats in. We could not take in these strays, as we have four strays living with us already. It is hard to sleep at night knowing that they were outside freezing. This heater is working so well that we recommended it to a friend who bought the next size up, which is the large. She lives in Cape May and has a small colony(12) of cats, which she houses in the x-tra large dogloo. I was a little disappointed that it is hard plastic and you really can’t cover it with anything, but the cats don’t seem to mind at all. They are very happy to be warm and on really cold nights they are right on top of the heater and if it is a more mild night, they can move off the heater. the heater doesn’t get too warm but it is enough to make them comfortable. It really was money well spent and we get a good nights sleep knowing they are not freezing. We are in the midst of a blizzard tonight and they are curled up and cozy in the back of the dogloo on their heater. If you have animals that you can’t take in for whatever reason, please treat them to this bit of comfort, they deserve to be warm too.
